Mary Brown:  

After high school, I attended Wilkes College, now Wilkes University, and earned a B.S. in Chemistry. After college, I worked as a research chemist at the Agricultural Research Center in Beltsville, Maryland. Due to illness, I had a long hospitalization at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and for some time was unable to work much. During that period, I worked as a blood chemist at Johns Hopkins, a kennel assistant, and a veterinary assistant. I returned to school, the University of Maryland, and got a Ph.D. in Psychology. I worked as a staff psychologist at a hospital for children and adolescents, then as the Mental Health Team Leader at another facility for children and adolescents. While working at this last place, I began serving as a consultant to the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, and finally left my job to consult full time. I also opened a private practice, doing psychotherapy, psychological testing, and neuropsychological evaluations. In 1985, I had to retire on disability. Since then I have not worked at all.
